Mt Rainier National Park: carbon river road

Yesterday was the rain forest. Today, I thought to go the other extreme and go see the glacier.

Mt Rainier National Park: ipsut creek trailhead

Matching cars. The one with the eyeball sticker is better.

Mt Rainier National Park: carbon river

Is called flour water. Milky white from the minerals released by melting ice. Ironically, it smells like Dry. Like those shrunken gritty ice cubes that have been left in the freezer too long.

The camping trip of many hats.
Mt Rainier National Park: mt rainier

Snow covered peaks of mount rainier. I wanted a sno-cone right about then.

Makeshift potty at the campground. It smells like Stinky.

Log foot bridge. Slippery but fun. This area smells like Wet.

Don't slip on the log.
Mt Rainier National Park: carbon glacier trail

Scary scary suspension bridge. If Adults accompanied the children, then they'd be violating the one person on bridge at a time rule. And what if one was pregnant? Does the fetus count as a person?

Mt Rainier National Park: carbon glacier trail

I jumped up and down a few times to snub my nose against the rules. It smells like Vermiculite.

It seems to get warmer as I get closer to the glacier. Strange.

Bah! I laugh at danger.

Mt Rainier National Park: carbon glacier

The glacier smells just like the funky ice that's been in my freezer for six months.

Mt Rainier National Park: carbon glacier

No blue ice of the airplane variety in sight. But think about the giant frozen margarita you can make with this glacier. And it would be high in mineral content, so the margarita would be health food.

Over the top of the glacier. Rich dark top soil. I want to take some home for my garden.

It's nice and warm, but the blackened ferns show signs of frost damage. This area smells like toast.

Service Road 165

Hummer SUV's need not apply!

Service Road 165

Today's weird signage sightings-

"Horse Bording" carved wood plaque. Really beautifully hand carved lettering from a single log, hours of effort in perfect craftsmanship. But horrendous spelling.

And "CJ's Bakery and Theraputic Massage." Dual uses for those kneading skills.

And I taught Eli to spin around in circles, get dizzy, and fall down.
